A little background
On the beautiful eastern-most shore of the Dominican Republic is the region known as Punta Cana - famous for its pristine, white sandy beaches and crystal clear tropical waters. In fact, because of its unique location on both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, beaches are Punta Cana's primary attraction - and some of its beaches consistently rank among the top 10 in the world. Many resorts make use of the island's natural beauty, and make it easy to take your dream tropical vacation, no matter your style. With temperatures in the mid-80's year round, you're almost guaranteed great beach weather. Everything from a golf outing, to a family vacation, to a luxurious weekend away (and everything in between) awaits you in Punta Cana.
Vamos a La Playa
Punta Cana's namesake beach consistently ranks among the 10 best beaches in the world. The beach is renowned for its radiant, powder white sand, crystal clear turquoise waters, and beautiful coconut palm trees. It hardly rains on the beaches of Punta Cana, and there are tons of activities to enjoy: sailboats, kayaks, and surfboards are all available to rent on the beach. But, if you just want to relax on Punta Cana Beach, there's plenty of shade for that, too.
Try your luck
After a day at the beach, try your luck at one of Punta Cana's casinos. Casinos are located at larger all-inclusive resorts and open late in the afternoon, not usually closing until sunrise. Even though they aren't as big as their Las Vegas counterparts, Punta Cana's casinos still have it all - from free drinks to bright lights and blackjack. If you decide to play and have good fortune, we suggest you quit while you're ahead!
Fulfill a lifelong dream
The ultimate life-changing experience can be yours in Punta Cana! Dive with dolphins and play with some of the friendliest animals in the ocean, and 'sea' for yourself why so many people love the experience. There are a number of opportunities in Punta Cana to come face-to-face with these lovable creatures, and most resorts provide transportation to and from the excitement.
Punta Cana is home to nearly a dozen golf courses, many of which were designed by top golf architects. While golf resorts are popular in the Dominican Republic, it is not necessary to stay at one in order to play a championship course, as most accept outside guests. Some of the golf courses are located along the beach, so you won't miss out on any of the spectacular views. Green fees usually decrease after 2pm.
Ponce de Leon
The famous explorer, Juan Ponce de Leon, built a plantation house in Punta Cana more than 500 years ago. Today, a museum in the same plantation house preserves this little slice of history - and a handful of the explorer's personal belongings. Interior furnishing stands today as it did the day it was built. The Ponce de Leon Fort Museum has limited opening hours, so be sure to call ahead.
