Low Fare, High Frills Airline Announces New Advertising Tagline
New York, NY, 06/11/2001 -- The new tagline was created by Boston-based Arnold Worldwide, JetBlue's advertising agency of record, and will be incorporated into all of the airline's print, broadcast and outdoor advertising.
"Our passengers and employees really helped write this tagline for us," said Amy Curtis, Vice President, Marketing at JetBlue. "In all the research Arnold did with JetBlue customers and employees, the messages we heard time and again were 'JetBlue makes me feel welcome' and 'JetBlue is genuinely happy to have me onboard.' We were especially pleased that 'Somebody Up There Likes You' has such great internal value, reminding all our employees that they're integral to JetBlue's continued success."
In researching the tagline for JetBlue, Arnold's Consumer Insight Group visited and interviewed JetBlue "brand lovers," those passengers who have written letters to the airline praising the service, and spent a day at JetBlue's base at John F. Kennedy International Airport interviewing JetBlue passengers and employees.
"We felt that with customer advocacy and human courtesy as its foundations, JetBlue needed a tag that focused on the people - passengers and employees - not the airline," said Barbara Reilly, Senior Vice President, Arnold Worldwide. "And 'Somebody Up There Likes You' sums up what everyone we interviewed in our research told us: that JetBlue takes care of its customers and sees things from their perspective."
JetBlue recently received an "A" rating from PlanetFeedback.com, a leading online consumer feedback service, where many subscribers logged on to praise their overall experience on JetBlue. In February, the airline was voted the #2 domestic airline in the country in the Zagat 2001 Airline Survey, rating high marks for comfort and service.
JetBlue now operates 76 flights a day with a fleet of 14 brand new, environmentally friendly Airbus A320 aircraft. From its base at John F. Kennedy International Airport, JetBlue flies six times daily to Fort Lauderdale, FL; five times daily to Buffalo and Rochester, NY; four times daily to Orlando, FL; three times daily to Tampa, FL and Syracuse, NY; twice daily to San Francisco/Oakland, CA, Los Angeles/Ontario, CA, West Palm Beach, FL and Burlington, VT; and daily to Salt Lake City, UT, Seattle, WA, Denver, CO and Fort Myers, FL.
The airline will begin twice daily service to New Orleans beginning July 25 and twice daily service to Long Beach, CA, beginning August 29.
JetBlue has carried more than 2 million passengers and, in 2001, will take delivery of another seven new Airbus A320 aircraft outfitted with roomy all-leather seats, each equipped with LiveTV offering 24-channel satellite television. LiveTV is available free of charge to all JetBlue passengers.
