JetBlue's Arrival In Rochester Marks The End Of Sky-High Fares

Airline Offers New Airbus Jets, Convenient Business Schedules, Free Inseat Satellite TV, And Fares Up To 65% Less Than The Competition

New York, NY, 08/03/2000 -- JetBlue’s regular low fares between Rochester and New York range from $49 each way, for a 14-day advance purchase fare, to $99 each way, for a “walk-up” fare. The airline’s lowest regular one-way fare is up to 65% less than those offered by other airlines serving the route, and the walk-up one-way fare is as much as 61% less than equivalent fares on other airlines.

“At JetBlue, we like to think of ourselves as consumer advocates. We believe that all travelers should have access to high quality airline service at affordable fares,” said David Neeleman, CEO of JetBlue Airways.

“The people of Rochester have been paying some of the highest air fares in the country for a long, long time, so it is especially rewarding for us to be the carrier who will force other airlines to drop their prices to this city,” continued Neeleman. “We’re particularly grateful for the steadfast and longstanding support of Govenor Pataki, Senator Schumer, Congresswoman Slaughter and Monroe County Executive, Jack Doyle, for our new service.”

“JetBlue’s arrival not only benefits Rochester’s business travelers but is a boon for the city’s leisure travelers as well. Vacationers can now forget about having to drive to nearby cities for low fares and now fly right out of their own outstanding airport.”

Rochester residents will also have direct or connection low-fare service to Florida with daily service to Orlando and twice-daily service to each of Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. From August 22, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa will be served three times daily. JetBlue’s one-way fares for flights from Rochester to Florida begin at $89. JetBlue also offers connecting service to Los Angeles’ Ontario International Airport and to Oakland International Airport in the San Francisco Bay area, starting at $129 each way.
